The importance of having and belonging to a support groupposted on 20 April 2012 in ComputersThe world that we live in today has changed a lot from that which our great grandparents lived in. During their years the family was a closely knit unit of the society that provided emotional and even financial support for any member of the family that needed. No one was turned away when they were in trouble. As time went things changed as people began to be preoccupied by their own issue at the expense of others and therefore the family unit now is not as strong as it was then. The concept of support system or support group has even evolved as people are forming support groups like microsoft outlook express help support group. The essence of support groups is to meet and discuss a common difficult challenge and to propose and find ways of dealing with it. Support groups allow people to be themselves and even vent out and complain without feeling embarrassed because the people in that group know what it is you are going through. It is also a source of support and encouragement. |

The importance of meaningful friends in lifeposted on 16 April 2012 in Holiday and TravelMy best friend happens to be my girlfriend and she is an awesome girl. When we were kids, I had a bone deformation that made me not walk straight and that made me get teased by kids in the neighborhood and school but she was the only person who never teased me. In fact she befriended me and she became my only friend. One day we were walking home from school and some bullies started attacking us, she told me she could fend them off, she then told me to run. What she was asking from me was impossible but she told me I could do it, so I started to run and at first it was slow and after some time I started picking up speed and could not stop running. That was the beginning of my sport life, I became a good athlete and even got a scholarship to a UK university, the same university she was going to. The UK immigration process was pretty simple, I got a student visa and since I had my passport, I did not incur any difficulties. She never stopped being my friend, and I owe my success to her. |

What would make Skype not to workposted on 13 April 2012 in TechnologyIt has been said that if you want to know what type of a person someone is, you have to check about what kind of company they keep. Birds of a feather flock together. This being true you will get to understand the reason why friends will opt to be in one social networking site. This is due to the fact that here they will be able to communicate with no problem at all. What this then means is that if one is on facebook, there is always a big possibility that the friends will be on the same. If one is on Skype, it means that the friends will also be on the same. Why it works like this points to the first part of this article. If Skype not working it can be problematic for those who are members. It cuts down many things that one would have wanted to do and because of this one should know what to do. All you need to do is to go online and indicate that Skype is not working and you will be assisted. |

How Ethernet internet connection came into beingposted on 23 March 2012 in Internet RelatedEthernet internet connection was a top secret government project that was only spoken of in hushed tones. During the WWII this internet connection was used by the British military to spy on enemy lines and to intercept digital and analog communication. After the 1945 war the Ethernet project was abandoned by the military which did not know its work and then it was picked up by a Russian scientist who was named Walter Rudolf. Rudolf saw the potential in the Ethernet project but for 5 years after WWII he told no one what he saw. After he released the first ethernet connect email service that was broadcast over the worldwideweb. The world was able for the first time to see the vision of a man who had been ignored as being out of his mind. In honour of Walter Rudolf the use of this connection was renamed the Rudolfian connection and it became the basis for development of email service providers. The technology that is used on emails today comes from the man who worked in his dark laboratory for over 5 years as he built one of the greatest gifts to mankind. |

Going the Extra Mile to Ensure a Passing Markposted on 10 March 2012 in Arts and EntertainmentDo me a favor, will you? Jamie asked. Joy quickly replied, I would if I could. But first you need to tell me what you want me to do. Jamie then said, You know very well that I have been struggling to get a passing mark in social studies class. Aside from the fact that Mrs. Perez hates me, I am really having a difficult time remembering the facts. Did you know that when we had our last exam, I almost got zero? I know, right? I realize I need help and you, being a good friend of mine and one of Mrs. Perez's favorite students in class, are in the best position to help me.In her mind, Joy was happy because at least Jamie was humble enough to acknowledge that she needed help. For Joy, it was a huge step that her friend has taken. She then answered back, I will be glad to help you do an isbn book search anytime that is if part of your plan to pass is to deliver a good oral report in class. Jamie then replied, It sure is, Joy. |

Discovering New Songs from Other Countries and In Different Languagesposted on 27 February 2012 in Internet RelatedHaving grown tired with the music I have been listening for the past couple of weeks. I decided to check out music from other countries and in different languages. I ended up checking out the songs ranking top 10 in the French billboard charts and found them to be quite good. I don't speak French and I doubt I ever will but that did not stop me from listening and appreciating a bunch of French songs. An absolute favorite is one from Corneille entitled Le Jour Apres La Fin Du Monde which according to Google Translate means the day after the world ends. The beat of the song is really nice and it makes the listener want to sway his or her body to the music. I downloaded the song and added it to my iTunes. I then went back to my search and come across another French song entitled A Nos Actes Manques which means Missed our actions. I seriously don't have any idea on the meaning of the whole song I was focused on the beat and the melody. |

Motorbikes Are The Least Useful Motor Vehiclesposted on 18 February 2012 in Cars and TransportI do not have enough money for a motorbike, but I also do not want one. There are the obvious reasons of the noise, the danger, and the exposure to the elements (which is certainly not attractive to me, living in Western New York). However, there is also the fact that they aren't very useful. I don't have any sort of motor vehicle, but if I were to get one, I would be sure that it had enough storage space for trips to the grocery store. Could you even fit one bag full of groceries on the average motorbike? I doubt it. Don't get me wrong - I see the recreational value of say, owning a dirt bike, and going round those dirt tracks even the accessories like the motocross helmets look pretty cool. But for day to day life? I would much rather have a car. You can put many weeks’ worth of groceries in a minivan or even a sedan. The other reason I would want a motor vehicle is to take trips with my girlfriend. More than one person can ride on some motorbikes, but can two people and their camping supplies fit? Definitely not! Motorbikes just aren’t worth the trouble, in my opinion. |

I Like Navy Blue Pashminas Because I Just Doposted on 14 February 2012 in FashionI like navy pashminas simply so I can wrap myself in my favorite color. If I wanted, I could say that I like the navy ones because the color represents authority and unity and all that, but the fact is I like navy because it just is a nice color. I could say I like the scarves because the feel and color combined remind me of the ocean on a cloudy day, but that’s not true either. Well, not totally true anyway. I like navy pashminas because the navy blue color is a sensible one. It is not bright and eye-catching like yellow, and doesn’t shout ‘I’m a fashion statement’ the way red does. The grey ones try too hard be mature and confident and green, well that’s just for children. Navy doesn’t have to make a statement. It’s one of those colors that just look good no matter what. |

Chemical Hazards in Factories Are No Jokeposted on 11 February 2012 in Construction and IndustrialWhile many companies complain about OSHA regulations, they are beneficial not only to workers, but also to the companies themselves. When I was a teenager, before OSHA Standards were required, I worked in a factory that manufactured different chemical products. In my area we made make-up for Halloween costumes. In another section they produced agricultural fertilizers. Although there were closed doors between the two areas, the stench from the agricultural area was overwhelming. It stayed in my nose and overalls for hours after I went home, and I began developing sinus infections. Eventually I left the job because of the damage to my respiratory system as well as the general uncleanliness. Neither machines nor floors were cleaned, with chemical residues left everywhere. Two years later the hazards had accumulated to the point where a fire started in the agricultural fertilizer section, and the entire building blew up, like the Federal Building in Kansas City. Examples like this are the reasons the OSHA standards were developed and put in place to protect both workers and businesses. |

How I Spend My Salary and Try to Save Moneyposted on 8 February 2012 in Business and FinanceThe last thing I want to do is have to issue a debt relief order so I am careful with my money. Out of the one hundred and fifty dollars I receive every month, I follow the plan I had drawn earlier of having different fractions of money that I spend on my basic needs and basic wants. Half of the money goes to the basics which include, food, rent and clothing, while the other half is divided into two equal parts, savings and the wants. The latter include, entertainment which was difficult for me to attain my budget criteria without it. However, I could share the balance acquired from the entertainment fraction to the savings. I shop once in every month to avoid unnecessary transport charges, buy things like food and water in bulk to take advantage of the discounts offered. Nevertheless, I recently purchased a gas cooker and a fluorescent bulb to cut down the electricity cost. |

Fashion Fever: My Bootsposted on 8 February 2012 in FashionMy favorite shoes aren't really shoes at all, but boots. I take size 13 shoes, so these boots are really rather large! They are of the Aldo style and they were made by hand (supposedly) in Portugal. My boots were a little more pricey than I would normally pay for my footwear, yet over a year later I still find them to be a great investment. In fact I wear them everyday at this point, as I just moved 1200 miles away from where I am from. I trusted my boots enough to be the only footwear I brought with me. Probably the best thing about my boots, even better than getting me called James Dean, is that they can be repaired! I recently had them repaired before my move and it was a measly 17 dollars and they looked almost brand new! I am confident that they have quite a few years left in them and I can't wait to keep them on my feet. So if you're like me and you enjoy things that last...grab yourself a nice pair of boots and get moving. |

Fancy Dress: Dressing Like Harry Potterposted on 6 February 2012 in FashionIf I were to attend a fancy dress party I would dress up as Harry Potter. The Harry Potter books are the reason I love reading and also happens to be my favorite book character. As a young child I hated reading and would refuse to read, then the Harry Potter books came out and I fell in love with them. Every since then I'm a avid reader and read at least one book a week. Also, Harry Potter is one of the best known fictional characters in the world. Everyone would know who I was and we could bond over our mutual love of the book series. I would wear the normal black robes that are standard at Hogwarts, with the school crest on it of course, a lightning bolt shaped scar on my forehead and a pair of large round glasses with the lenses taken out. If I had the time I would also buy green eye contacts so I could have the same color eyes as Harry Potter. For my wand I would probably find a tree branch of the perfect size and use it. I'm sure that at this fancy dress party my Harry Potter would be a smash hit. |

Fashion Goes Country for a Night!posted on 4 February 2012 in FashionI have recently been enticed by the country western look. My favorite fashion is to wear a long ivory sweater adorned with a cowl neck that is layered with a beige cotton frayed scarf tied around my neck and a wide brown belt cinched around the waist. In addition to the scarf I layer several strands of silver and turquoise chunky necklaces around my neck too. I compliment the look with my favorite skinny jeans tucked into my well worn pink and brown cowgirl boots. The rest of my jewelry consists of large hoop earrings and silver bangle bracelets. I recently purchased a large brown handbag that features a large sparkly cross adorning the front of it along with silver rings along the side. If I'm in a really playful mood, I will weave a brown feather into my hair and top it off with a scrunched up straw cowgirl hat. I'm set for a night on the town. |

The Holiday of a Lifetime In Our Classic Motorhomeposted on 3 February 2012 in Holiday and TravelIt was 1983 and we belonged to a Volkswagon Bus club - the precursor to the modernday motorhome! Ours was an orange VW Bus that the top popped up on and a cot came down. There were 14 of us in all with 6 VW busses. Red, Orange, Green and white VW busses all traveling along route 66 heading west to South Dakota. The first night we stayed in a campground all next to each other, what a site it was to see all the VW's in a row and everyone around the campfire. We were headed to see the president's heads and were all very excited about it. In the morning it was fun cooking over the fire and eating breakfast all together. We all felt we had the great love of the road and traveling together. Day 2 we packed up and started on our way again. The sunflowers were in every field we passed and they turned their heads toward the sun all day long. At the end of day 2 we came to the Bad Lands and we camped right alongside them. We were able to walk all around the clay forms and it was awsome. Day 3 we arrived at the president's heads and it was foggy all around us. We set up camp and waited untill the afternoon to see the great site. It was so much fun traveling together as a group we are making plans for our next great adventure. |

Why Taking Photos Is a Relaxing Hobbyposted on 3 February 2012 in Recreation and HobbiesI started taking photos when I was in my twenties...simply because I was given a digital camera and I was bored every once in a while. I would go out on walks and snap photos of angles, lighting, street art, colors, and shapes that caught my eye. At first I just printed out the pictures and kept them for myself, but recently I was told I have a fairly decent eye, and was given a better camera as a gift. I now have a website that I created by myself, and I am starting to see photography as more than a simple hobby...maybe this will eventually go somewhere for me - I may even become a wedding photographer or something in the future - who knows? Even if nothing comes of it commercially, it definitely scatches my creative itch for me, and I'm happy just being a hobbyist photographer anyway. |

My worst nightmare is probably animals and what they are capable ofposted on 1 February 2012 in Holiday and TravelI have an intense fear when it comes to animals and my friends tell me that the reason why many animals are very unfriendly when they see me or an in contact with me is because they can smell the dear from me and they can also see the contempt that I have for them all over myself. My fear for animals does not necessarily come from a traumatic experience but what I know is that if there is something that I cannot stand are animals. The most feared animal is the dog. Now I seriously do not understand how someone can ask me why I fear dogs. Have you seen the teeth on those creatures? Anyway I am supposed to travel to China for a business meeting and when I was going through the requirements that were needed for traveling, I kept wondering Do i need vaccinations for china, and then I saw a different paper that had the answer that had the answer to my question. Now what caught my eye was the vaccination for rabies. Now dog bites are probably one of my biggest nightmares. So I called the offices and they told me that it is just a precaution because that is a common occurrence and yet the remedy for the bites was very scarce. |

Queen For A Moment, Bum For A Weekposted on 1 February 2012 in FashionOne day while shopping I came across a handbag and quickly fell in love with it. It was only when I checked the price tag I noticed it was a "HOBO" and out of my price range, but I felt like a queen when I bought it. I justified the purchase (in my head) because I have always been told about the durability and worthiness of "HOBO" bags. You can imagine my surprise and disappointment when after 3 days of use, an inside seam starting unraveling. I gave it another few days to see if it would further deteriorate and it unraveled even more. I regrettably returned the bag after owning it for a mere week as I thought its quality was deplorable. However, that purchase confirmed to me an expensive name isn't always what it's cracked up to be, and that statement isn't limited to handbags at all (in my opinion). |

Filling Empty Spaces in My Houseposted on 29 January 2012 in Construction and IndustrialNow some people just like to do small DIY jobs - maybe add some new velcro fasteners to their curtains, maybe a bedroom paint job, perhaps even new carpets. But me? If there was something that I would like to add to my house it would definitely be a swimming pool, yep, that’s right a swimming pool, and there are several reasons why I would add a swimming pool to my house, the first and most important is to use a really bad calculated empty space that was left behind by the architect that designed my house, secondly it would be because adding a swimming pool would be the smartest thing to do over here, and by that I mean that the weather here is extremely hot mostly all year around and obviously a pool would be the answer to those days when I me and my family just can’t stand the heat and the third reason I would build a swimming pool it would be for the love to the sport of swimming! I love swimming and I actually train with a coach and everything so it would be ten times better if I could train here at home, and well those are basically the reasons I would build a swimming pool in my house. |
